Pleasing Start-Over Chapter 9: Arc 1 Part 8

Qi Yuxuan and Qi Yuxin held their wedding in an upscale hotel. Everything was situated on the outdoor lawn. Mr. Qi invited many of his business peers and celebrities to the wedding. It was a very big and lively event.

Qiao Chen walked over to Wei Zhennan with a glass of wine in hand. Qiao Chen offered the glass as he greeted, “Director Wei, thank you for attending the Qi family’s wedding.”

Wei Zhennan smiled and accepted the glass. Their fingers touched for a brief moment. “The Qi family’s adopted son marries the Qi family’s daughter. This can be considered a kind of incest.”

“Isn’t that right?” Qiao Chen said quietly, “It can also be considered as an incestuous relationship that was encouraged by the household.”

“You said something good was going to be happening ahead of schedule. When does the show start?” Wei Zhennan quietly asked.

“Just wait a bit more. You won’t be disappointed.” Qiao Chen promised. His words had just left his mouth when someone came over to greet Wei Zhennan.

Qiao Chen turned his attention elsewhere and exchanged formalities with some more guests. Then he went to Mr. Qi’s side and entertained guests that had just arrived.

After the wedding officially began, Qi Yuxin held Qi Yuxuan’s hand and walked down the red carpeted aisle.  The two exchanged rings before the priest. Then they toasted to the guests.

Following Qi Yuxin’s requirements, the banquet was self served. The venue was bustling with all of the guests taking part in the meal. Then, the groom and bride were inadvertently separated by their respective friends. They didn’t mind and continued to chat, drink, and celebrate the wedding with their friends.

Every now and then, Qiao Chen would survey the room and take note of where Qi Yuxuan was. Eventually, he saw Qi Yuxuan and Shu Wenjie quietly leave together while everyone was busy. Qiao Chen couldn’t help but laughingly grin. They were just too predictable.

“Don’t laugh like that here.” Wei Zhennan chided. He felt disgruntled. Even though he really liked Qiao Chen’s kitten-like smile, he didn’t want others to see it.

Qiao Chen understood that the man was thinking nonsensical things again. He glanced at Wei Zhennan in reply. Then he brought Wei Zhennan to the pavilion where Qi Yuxuan and Qi Yuxin just had their ring ceremony. Currently, there was a very large TV placed there. The screen displayed the newly married couple’s wedding photos.

With the marriage between Qi Yuxuan and Yuxin, the unhappiest person was of course Shu Wenjie. Therefore, to coax Shu Wenjie, Qi Yuxuan should have promised something special in return. In the previous life, Qi Yuxuan invited Shu Wenjie to the hotel. Then they went into the wedding room Qi Yuxin specifically reserved for their wedding night. Qi Yuxuan wanted to explain to Shu Wenjie that he was being forced into the marriage. To further cement his faithfulness towards Shu Wenjie, he wanted show him that he favored Shu Wenjie, not Qi Yuxin. To “show” this love and devotion, the two “used” the wedding room.

Even though the time of the marriage occurred differently than that previous life’s, the location and situation were the same, and Qi Yuxuan once again quietly left the banquet with Shu Wenjie.

Normally, with the amount of people in attendance, nobody would notice if the groom secretly left for half an hour. Even if they did, then he could have said that he just went to the restroom. Unfortunately for him, Qiao Chen prepared quite the wedding gift for the couple. He wouldn’t let Qi Yuxuan repeat a clean get-away like the last life.

Qiao Chen took note of the time and supposed that the “show” should have started already. He pulled out his phone. Then he turned unlocked it and manipulated a camera. To be specific, he manipulated the camera he hid in the wedding room. It was placed inconspicuously by the bedside and pointed towards the bed. Then, he snuck to the back of the pavilion when the coast was clear. Finally, he connected the TV to the phone and let the show become tell.

One by one, people began to notice the strange images on the TV. Out of curiosity, they came a little closer to take a better look. A girl screamed when she saw what the shadows of two people on the TV were doing on the screen. They were clearly in the middle of having sex.

Alerted by the scream, more and more guests gathered around the television. Whispers of admonishment and gossip fluttered in the air as they criticized the Qi family for playing such obscene videos during a wedding. As the camera panned over, Qi Yuxuan and Shu Wenjie’s faces came into view. More people exclaimed in surprise as they finally saw who the two shadows were. All those who could clearly see the screen had wonderful expressions that distorted their faces. Mr. and Mrs. Qi heard the clamor of people, realized something was happening, and headed over immediately. Qi Yuxin was oblivious as her friend dragged her over as well.

The moment Mr. and Mrs. Qi saw the screen, their eyes widened in shock. Then Qi Yuxin arrived and saw the screen.

She exasperatedly pulled at her hair and screamed. After she screamed to her heart’s content, she quickly lifted the skirt of her wedding dress and ran towards the hotel- headed to the wedding room.

As more people came out of their initial shock, they pulled out their phones and opened their cameras. They began to film and record the whole scene playing on screen. Qiao Chen quietly came from a corner and joined a huddle towards the back of the audience. After waiting a moment, he made his way to Mr. Qi and put on an expression of shock.

Soon, the TV showed Qi Yuxin rushing into the room. She quickly pushed the two men apart, dove at Shu Wenjie, and attacked. Qi Yuxuan was caught by surprise. He never expected Qi Yuxin to rush in and catch him butt naked. So he froze like a deer caught in the headlights.

At least Shu Wenjie remembered his place as a gentleman. He didn’t hit women. Adding to that, Qi Yuxin was the daughter of the Qi family. Therefore, he just blocked every punch, hit, and kick. He continued to just push her away while she crazily attacked.

Shu Wenjie’s mother saw her son being beaten and wanted to rush in to shield him. This was her only son, her baby. Normally, she wouldn’t even scold or reprimand him. She couldn’t bear seeing her precious baby being beat any longer and ran to the wedding room to help him.

Finally, Mr. Qi recovered from his stupor. He looked around as his chest heaved with anger. Once his eyes saw Qiao Chen standing wide-eyed next to him, he roared, “You’re still not going to turn that damned TV off?! What are you doing? Just staring blankly ahead?”

“Mm- yes.” Qiao Chen hurriedly nodded his head and ran to turn off the TV. Then he conveniently grabbed his phone and stored it away.

Mr. and Mrs. Qi already made their way to the wedding room. The guests eagerly followed behind since they wanted to watch the live version. Along the way, Mrs. Qi constantly felt faint. She tripped and fell a few times. The family following next to her helped her up; otherwise she wouldn’t have made it to the wedding room.

“Not disappointed at all. It really was quite a good show.” Wei Zhennan said to Qiao Chen as they walked behind the rushing crowd.

Qiao Chen looked at Wei Zhennan as his eye glittered with pride. Then he moved forward and squeezed his way to the front of the crowd.

When they arrived, Qi Yuxuan and Shu Wenjie had their pants on. They could tell that the men had hastily worn their pants only when Mrs. Shu came in. Mrs. Shu had jumped on Qi Yuxin. She grabbed Qi Yuxin’s hair and pulled. Qi Yuxuan headed to their direction to hold Mrs. Shu back.

Mrs. Shu was a tall and strong woman. She continued to beat the living daylights out of a screaming Qi Yuxin. When Mrs. Qi saw her daughter being beaten within an inch of her life, she scrambled forward to help. Unfortunately, Mrs. Qi was not a match for Mrs. Shu. Mrs. Shu’s hand shot out and shoved Mrs. Qi out of the way and onto the floor. Qi Yuxuan and Mr. Qi had to team up, pull Mrs. Shu away, and hold her back.

“You are so shameless! Your son seduced my son into doing such a- thing! Then you actually have the gall to attack my daughter!” Mrs. Qi accused as she pointed a shaking finger at Mrs. Shu.

“Me?! Pei! Who’s the shameless one here? Your family is the shameless ones! Wasn’t it your son who brought mine to the wedding room? How else would he be able to even enter the room without the key?” Mrs. Shu huffed in retort.

Mrs. Shu was a successful business woman. She had a very strong and tough personality. In Shu family, it was known that Shu Wenjie’s dad moved into Mrs. Shu’s house- which effectively meant that he joined her family, not the other way around.

Mrs. Shu was constantly on edge about something throughout the entire marriage. She watched Mr. Shu like a hawk, treating him like a criminal. Mr. Shu didn’t have any freedom. He suffered through Mrs. Shu’s constant accusations and cynicism. Eventually he couldn’t bear it any longer and filed for a divorce, but Mrs. Shu wouldn’t allow it. She forced Mr. Shu under house arrest unwilling to let him go. When Shu Wenjie was five, Mr. Shu’s depression finally drove him to commit suicide.

Mrs. Shu was stained with an evil reputation: man-killer, a preying mantis, black widow. Even if people’s finances were plummeting straight down into the poverty line, no one dared to marry her. Consequently, Mrs. Shu ended up raising Shu Wenjie on her own. She normally spoiled him and gave him whatever he wanted. She didn’t care about how her son spent his days and played. Besides, it was the Shu family who supplied the money for him to play with. However, the only thing she was conflicted about  was Shu Wenjie and that man’s relationship. She was very resistant to the idea of them being in such a relationship. In her mind, she believed that it was Qi Yuxuan who seduced Shu Wenjie. It had to be Qi Yuxuan who fooled around with her precious little baby and brought him into the dark side.

The whole scene ended with Mrs. Shu and Mrs. Qi quarreling and the occasional sob from Qi Yuxin was sprinkled here and there. As time went on, Mrs. Shu decisively took Shu Wenjie away. The guests knew that the Qi family had no inclinations to see them out, so they left on their own. On the plus side, they were keen on leaving so they could gossip with their friends and family who were in the dark.

Only the Qi household and the extended Qi relatives stayed. They consoled the seething Mr. Qi and the wailing Qi Yuxin. Soon, Qi Yuxin and Mrs. Qi left as well. They were in no condition to watch Mr. Qi deal with the household’s internal affairs.

Wei Zhennan looked at Qiao Chen as he left. Qiao Chen gave him a wink to encourage him to leave- otherwise he would have stayed.

Qi Yuxuan and Qi Yuxin’s wedding night was supposed to be spent in the hotel’s presidential suite. Then, the two should have gone on their honeymoon the next day. However this spectacle happened. The wedding wasn’t even halfway complete and the guests had left- forget the wedding night and honeymoon.

The family returned to the Qi villa in a daze. Mr. Qi was thoroughly disappointed in Qi Yuxuan. Not only did this affair happen, but it happened in front of everyone. He knew he lost face in the business community.

“What on earth have I done to you? For you to humiliate me in such a way? What has Yuxin done for you to treat her like this? If you were in such a relationship with Shu Wenjie, why did you even propose to Yuxin? Even then, you chose to do that in her and your wedding room?!” Mr. Qi’s face reddened as he questioned Qi Yuxuan. His eyes burned with fury.

“It was Shu Wenjie who forced me! Dad, please, I really didn’t want to do that. I was blackmailed!” Qi Yuxuan quickly explained to Mr. Qi as he knelt on the floor. Tears welled in his eyes as he continued, “He drugged me so he could sleep with me. Then he took pictures and even recorded it. After he saved those images, he used them to threaten me. He said that if I didn’t listen to him, then he’d release them online. I didn’t want to embarrass you or the Qi family…so I agreed. I was terrified. I didn’t want you to know because then you wouldn’t let me marry Yuxuan. I truly, really love her. Please! Please believe me!”

“This is just like before! One. After. The. Other! How can I trust you when you keep letting me down over and over again? How do you think I can go out and meet with others anymore? I can’t show my face in public after all of this.”

“I’m sorry dad. You’re right. This is entirely my fault. I’ve failed you. I’ve failed Yuxin. I’ve humiliated and failed the Qi name. Just kill me.” Qi Yuxuan wailed.

Mr. Qi’s strength left him. He couldn’t even lift his hands. He just sat there in an almost catatonic state. Qi Yuxuan looked at Mr. Qi’s lifeless arms. Seeing that Mr. Qi wouldn’t make a move, he crawled to the edge of the coffee table. Then he picked up the astray and slammed it against his head. Blood spurted everywhere.

“AHH!” Qi Yuxin screamed. Mrs. Qi and Qi Yuxin ran to Qi Yuxuan’s side. Mrs. Qi called out, “Yuxuan! Husband! Hurry! Call an ambulance!”

“Yuxin…”Qi Yuxuan whispered as he lay on the ground. Then, he held her hand and continued, “I really love you… Even though I was forced by Shu Wenjie, I did wrong you. You don’t deserve this… let me die and atone for my sins. Please make sure you take care of our child…”

Then Qi Yuxuan looked into Mrs. Qi’s eyes and said, “Mom, I’m sorry. I’ve let you and dad down again. I’ve disappointed both of you. In the next life, I must be your son again. Then I can make up for this life and you will never feel such disappointment from me ever again.”

Qi Yuxin covered her mouth as soundless sobs racked her body. Mrs. Qi also cried. She shook her head and consoled him, “Mommy knows this isn’t your fault. It was that Shu Wenjie who did this to you. It’s his entire fault. Don’t say such stupid things. You’ll always have a space in my heart. You’ve always been my son.”

Qiao Chen watched from the sidelines. He couldn’t help but inwardly clap for Qi Yuxuan. His acting was just too good. No wonder Qi Beichen had no hope and died so miserably by Qi Yuxuan’s hands. Qi Yuxuan was just too good…

By the time the ambulance arrived, a large pool of blood formed in the living room. Qi Yuxuan was immediately sent to the hospital.  The doctor rushed him into the ER after seeing the amount of blood loss. He told them that Qi Yuxuan almost died from losing so much blood. The Qi family’s wedding day almost ended up with funeral arrangements.

Knowing that Qi Yuxuan sent himself to the hospital from the self inflicted wound, Mr. Qi could no longer do anything to Qi Yuxuan. Qi Yuxuan and Qi Yuxin already tied the knot… Qi Yuxin was carrying his child… What else could Mr. Qi do? He couldn’t force the two to divorce. He couldn’t make Qi Yuxin abort the child either. Even if he wanted to, Qi Yuxin would never agree to it.

Mr. Qi could only let Qi Yuxuan stay in the hospital and recover. If Qi Yuxuan recovered well, then he could live out a happy life with Qi Yuxin. Qi Yuxuan just needed to focus on the family and stay away from trouble. Although Mr. Qi no longer asked about or investigated the matter, he was obviously much more indifferent towards Qi Yuxuan.

Hey guys! Just a reminder, Yuxuan is scum because that’s who he is. His sexual orientation is a part of him but it doesn’t explain his actions. I think he’s a high functioning sociopath who happens to be bisexual.
